Scottish Decorators Federation - SPADAC

Introduction to SPADAC

Who are we?

SPADAC is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Scottish Decorators' Federation. We have been set up to register the apprentice painters and decorators in Scotland. We are fully supported in this by ConstructionSkills, the Scottish Qualifications Authority and the Scottish Decorators' Federation.

The committee of SPADAC includes representatives from industry, ConstructionSkills, SQA, Educational Establishments, Scottish Painting Craft Teachers Association, SDF, contributing manufacturers and a legal representative.

The main purpose of SPADAC is to regulate the working conditions, wages, recruitment, training and qualifications of apprenticeships in the painting and decorating industry in Scotland.

What will we do?

On completion of the apprentice registration form, and payment of the registration fee, we will:

  1. register the apprentice with the appropriate course;
  2. once registered, we will advise the employer of all appropriate details;
  3. provide a registration card for the apprentice which gives all his / her necessary details;
  4. provide a comprehensive toolkit for all apprentices;
  5. provide a SCORE Link card for the length of the apprenticeship;
  6. provide, at no cost, a SCORE Card when the apprentice successfully reaches completion of the apprenticeship;
  7. record all the details of units achieved when the apprentice undertakes his / her college course;
  8. provide the employer with a specific password so the apprentice's progress can be checked;
  9. record any ad-hoc courses undertaken with the National Training Group together with any completed qualifications such VQs, PASMA, Ladder Safety, SCORE etc.

This will be undertaken for a one off registration fee of £35.00
